Residential Painting in Boulder
Interior and Exterior
From one wall to a whole house, no job is too small or too big for our Boulder painting services. We are experts in applying all types of finishes including green paints, no voc paints (non-toxic paints), which are our favorite paints to use. Not only are they good for the environment and our customers, but they are a new form of water bourne paints that, in most cases, perform even better than latex paints.
We also specialize in oil-based enamel paints, urethanes, lacquers, all kinds of staining and oil finishes, epoxies, deck and oil stains, and cement floors.
We’ve been doing it all for 35 years, including repairs on drywall, texture, and exterior rotted wood in siding and trim. We bring in trusted carpenters when the repairs are beyond our scale.

In over 48 years of painting in Boulder and Denver, we’ve done it all. From 5-story exteriors using 80-foot booms, to painting a single office, to painting hundreds of offices in banks, aerospace facilities, malls, hotels, apartment buildings, clean rooms, pharmaceutical plants, factories, warehouses, stadiums, and even bridges. The harder the job, the more we enjoy the challenge.

We are EPA Lead Safety Certified
We are fully certified by the Environmental Protection Agency for renovations, repairs, and painting projects of all types. We provide lead testing at no charge to the customer and are credentialed in the safe handling of buildings and homes with paint that contains lead.
Free Color Consultations
We feel that color consultations are very important and offer them free of charge as part of our regular service.
Spending time on a color consultation at the beginning of the job helps prevent the common problem of customers suddenly disliking the color at the end of the job. This prevents them from having to pay for another coat of paint.
Usually people pick colors from a little swatch, not realizing how different it will look on a larger surface, and in the changing light. Our method is to actually paint 2’ x 2′ color samples on the wall or exterior of the surface to be painted, and we recommend at least 3 choices for each color you are interested in:
- one of your initial choice
- one a little lighter
- and one a little darker
We often apply as many as 10 to 15 colors in order to find the perfect one for your project.
We then let you live with those colors for a couple of days so you can see what they look like during different times of day, and in different lighting.
We also enjoy working with interior designers and colorists. My wife, Kerry Lee MacLean, a famous local artist, author and illustrator of 10 children’s books, including Pigs Over Boulder and Peaceful Piggy Meditation, enjoys consulting with us on difficult color combinations.
